Laptop Data Recovery

Retrieve Your Data with Confidence

Losing access to important files can feel like a disaster. Whether your laptop has stopped booting, suffered a hardware failure, or your hard drive has become unresponsive, the critical data stored on it may still be fully recoverable. At LPS, we provide professional laptop data recovery services for laptops, giving you the best possible chance of getting your files back safely and securely.

What Is Laptop Data Recovery?

Data recovery, part of our laptop repair service, is the process of retrieving files from a storage device that can no longer be accessed through normal means. When a laptop’s operating system fails, a drive becomes corrupted, or critical data is accidentally deleted, the files themselves are often still physically present on the drive – they simply can’t be reached through Windows File Explorer or standard recovery options without specialist intervention.

Using professional data recovery software and hardware-level diagnostic tools, our technicians are able to bypass operating system errors, read failing drives at a sector level, and recover the files that matter most to you – even in cases where the laptop itself is no longer functional.

Common Scenarios We Handle

Our data recovery services cover a wide range of situations, including:

  • Hard drive failure – mechanical or electronic faults preventing the drive from being read.
  • SSD corruption – where the drive is present but inaccessible to the operating system.
  • Deleted files – recovering data removed from File Explorer or emptied from the Recycle Bin.
  • Failed operating system – where Windows or macOS will no longer boot, but the drive is intact.
  • Accidental formatting – where a drive has been wiped, but the underlying data remains.
  • Firmware or partition issues – where the drive structure has become damaged or unreadable.
  • Water or heat damage – assessment of whether drive recovery is viable following physical damage.

How We Recover Your Data

Our recovery process begins with a full diagnostic assessment of the affected drive. We identify whether the fault is logical (software or file system related) or physical (hardware failure at the drive level), as this determines the appropriate recovery method.

For logical failures, we use industry – standard data recovery software to scan the drive at a deep level, rebuilding file structures and recovering deleted files that are no longer visible through conventional means such as File Explorer. In many cases, a full or near-full file recovery is achievable.

For more complex cases – such as drives with damaged firmware, bad sectors, or physical read/write head issues – we carry out a sector-by-sector image of the drive before any recovery attempts are made. This protects the integrity of your data and ensures we have the best possible foundation to work from before running drive recovery tools against the cloned image.

Once recovery is complete, we present you with a full list of recovered files before transferring them to a location of your choice. You remain in control throughout the process – we don’t proceed without your approval at each stage.

What Are the Chances of Successful Laptop Data Recovery?

The likelihood of a successful data recovery depends on the nature and severity of the fault. Logical failures – such as deleted files, corrupted file systems, or operating system errors – typically carry a high success rate. Physical damage to the drive itself can reduce the chances of a full recovery, though partial recovery is often still possible.

We will always give you an honest assessment of what we expect to be recoverable before any work begins. If a full recovery isn’t possible, we’ll explain your remaining recovery options clearly and help you decide on the best course of action.

Why Not Use Data Recovery Software Yourself?

There are a number of free and paid data recovery software tools available – such as Recuva, TestDisk, and PhotoRec – and in simple cases involving accidentally deleted files, these can be effective. However, using recovery software directly on a failing drive carries a real risk of making the situation worse.

Running software through the command line or File Explorer on a drive that has physical faults or bad sectors can cause further read/write damage, reducing the overall chances of a successful recovery. It can also overwrite the very data you’re trying to retrieve. Our approach – imaging the drive first, then running recovery tools against the copy – avoids this risk entirely and gives your data the best chance of coming back intact.

A Door-to-Door Service, From Start to Finish

We understand that a laptop carrying critical data may feel too important, or too fragile, to transport yourself. Our door-to-door collection and return service means you don’t have to. We collect your device directly from your home or workplace, carry out the recovery in a controlled environment, and return everything to you once the process is complete.

Your data is handled by a single, dedicated software technician throughout, not passed between multiple members of staff. We treat your files with the same care and confidentiality we’d want for our own.
